Advice for Seniors

A large number of seniors continue to earn credit for undergraduate research via BiIOG 4990.

Approximately 60% of students participate in the Honors Program in biology by conducting undergraduate research and giving 1-2 seminar presentations of their work. The application deadline for the Honors Program is in October.

Biology Advising

Students who plan to attend graduate school typically take the GRE and begin applying to programs during the fall semester.

Students applying to medical school spend a great deal of time traveling to schools for interviews in the fall term. Plan your schedule accordingly! Realize that you may be missing classes, communicate with your professors, and be prepared to make-up the work you miss.

While we encourage students to enroll in elective courses throughout their 4 years at Cornell, the senior year schedule allows for more electives if students complete the majority of major and college requirements in advance. "Wines" and "Cooking" in the Hotel School are popular senior electives!
