What are you going to do with your life?
As an undergraduate student, your four years at Cornell will undoubtedly fly by. Although it may seem that these years will last forever, we recommend that you start thinking about post-graduation opportunities early on. The possibilities for the various fields of graduate education and employment are quite diverse, even for biology majors. Although it is not necessary to commit to a specific career path as a freshman, it is integral that you begin to consider the options available and understand the processes for applying to various programs.
Why Network?
As a Cornellian, you are already part of a worldwide community of alumni that cover every imaginable specialty and field. Connecting with these alumni can help you learn about academic and career options available and also potentially “get your foot in the door”. Past networking trips have led to summer internships and research, opportunities to shadow physicians and to volunteer at a hospital, and even job offers! Each year our BSP members have the chance to participate in alumni networking trips. These trips consist of several days of site visits to graduate and medical schools, companies within various industries, and panel discussions with alumni.
